Time and tides wait for no one (pic)

Walking one of the Great Walks of New Zealand is always a challenge
and any way of skipping a little of the winding path is welcomed. But,
not without risk! On the Abel Tasmin we find such a potential shortcut
across a tidal bay, but can we reach the other side before the waters
come back in? In the end we made it, just. Wading over newly formed
rivers we spashed up the final bank and took stock of our fortune, the
people after us had better get their water wellys out!
