While visiting the War Remnants Museum in Saigon we came across this
sticking out of an ex-US helicopter.
The museum experience was disturbing in the extreme with much evidence
of US attrocities and unpunished illegal murders of civilians. Still,
having had US propoganda fed to us through Hollywood for our entire
lives, it was nice to redress the balance.
Parts were hard to watch sure, but we also got a sense of national
pride from the Vietnamese that was very moving. They are very proud of
finally being independent from all those who would control their
future. Those days are now gone, how they deal with joining in with
the ‘western world’ in 2009 is anyones guess.
So far we really like it here.
