Bloodsport                              — Van Dam

This is the film that launched the B movie star.  Very good fun and some nice acting moments.  A number of martial artists fight in a tournament in Hong Kong.

Best of the Best                      — James Earl Jones

Classic martial arts movie with the late, great Chris Pen.  Very bad acting and 80’s cheese gives way to the classic and amazing fight scenes.  Stars the brother Rhee and has a cameo of the great Master Cho.

The Sreetfighter                      — Sony Chiba

Super high level of violence as Chiba plays a real badass for hire.  Great fighting skills shown throughout.

Game of Death II                   — Hwang Jang Lee and Bruce Lee

Not really staring Bruce Lee as he was dead when this was made, but still Hwang steals yet another film as the bady.

By the Sword                          — Eric Roberts

Great story set in a fencing school.  A man, looking for closure, visits the school of the son of the man he killed.

The Shogun’s Samurai         — Sony Chiba

Chiba shines in this period drama about political “king making” in Japan.

Drunken Master II                  — Jackie Chan

Full on re-imaging of the original.  Jackie makes fighting 100 people look easy.

A Better Tomorrow I/II          — Chow

Criminals Mark and Ho fight to retain their honor when their world collapses around them.

God of Gamblers                    — Chow

An amazing film, of light touch and good acting.   Chow is brilliant in the role and the story is funny.  Lots of action for the fans including a very famous back flip.

Full Contact                            — Chow

Chow as “honorable gangster” again, this time against a sadist’s gang.

Way of the Gun                      — Benico Del Toro

Two gun crazy low life’s get involved in a kidnapping.

Patlabor                                   — Manga

The one everyone overlooks because it is a PG.  A simply genius level of story.

The Searchers                          — John Wane

Wane acts out of the screen in this classic western about a man searching for his sister who has been kidnapped by Indians.  The final shot is one of the best ever filmed.

Once upon a Time in the West            — Charles Bronson

The one without Clint.  Ghost story again and Charles pays back the great Henry Fonda.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels                     — Michael Cane

Simply brilliantly funny.  Well acted and wonderfully written.

Blade Runner (DIRECTORS CUT)   — Harrison Ford

A vision of the future as Harrison battles cyborgs, but is he one himself?

Dune (Original Version)                     — Patrick Stewart

Such vision, such grandeur!  Patrick is not the star, nor is he as the character was in the books, but he is brilliant.

Being There                                         — Peter Sellers

I have reviewed this master work in depth on this site, look under the Archives.  Best ending ever in a movie.
